A Helping Hand For Vets

Welcome to A Helping Hand for Vets. My name is Tim Thompson, I am a US Army Veteran, and I was honorably discharged in 2011. Since my discharge I have struggled with navigating through the red tape and hurdles at the Veterans Administration.  I have been on the brink of homelessness and unsure of who could actually help me navigate not just the system but life and reintegration back into civilian life. Over the years I have discovered that my story is not unique. Men and women who have served are faced with mental, physical and financial challenges that sometimes go unseen. While in service we have our squad, our brothers and sisters who we can count on. Once we return our “issues” are too much for our friends and family and we may not always know how to figure things out. I believe that access to services and connections to community is vital to our veterans. I created A Helping Hand for Vets to create a community and to help my battle buddies navigate the systems, connect to resources and each other.

Our mission is to provide assistance to veterans in a judgment free and self-sustaining way; allowing them to maintain a level of personal courage and integrity through intentionally listening to issues veterans identify as most critical.

Our vision is to provide vocational, culinary and housing to under served veterans and their caregivers. Our ultimate goal is to provide assistance to veterans at every stage of determining their future. Through our dedicated service to those who have fought and served we aim to create a world in which veterans are no longer overlooked and undervalued.
